The Comal coffee table is a tribute to the traditions and flavors of Guatemala. A Comal, a traditional flat iron skillet used to make tortillas or roast cocoa beans, inspired its design. The connection between the Comal with women gathered around it while making tortillas and a coffee table that is the center of many interactions that occur in the home made it an ideal choice as a source of inspiration. Handcrafted from Cypress or Conacaste (Enterolobium Cyclocarpum), a hardwood native to Mexico and Central America with reddish-brown heart wood and coarse texture similar to walnut.
